PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENT Saturday, May 2 2020

From those wonderful folk who created the (mid-year maker’s market) at QAGOMA . . . but with the public isolation protocols still in place the usual end May to June market is cancelled BUT they have created an on-line opportunity for May 15-31 where we have reduced our selected items to 20% off – stay tuned to @qagomastore on Instagram in the near future.

Both of our Instagram handles are @barbyheath – @urban_archaeology2

Two antique carved bone objects given the treatment by © Jeweller to the Lost Friday, May 1 2020

Formally a brooch sold by Warwick Oakman in Richmond, Tasmania – now owned by Sharon at Lancasters Antiques in Toowoomba, Shazzie asked Barb if she could turn it into a wearable pendant. Barbara pointed out that she had a similar one from Michael & Vanessa at Michael Allen Antiques at Stanley Street East, in Brisbane.

They hatched a plan back in August 2019 and its taken this long to find half a day to devote to their own stuff . . . “make a large bail attach to a cut out shape with flat claws, find and cut out an oval pearl shell backing, oxidised the silver and mount and set”

Barbara’s own bone piece was complex enough, we just oxidised the backing . . .

Not the usual party for Leila’s birthday due to social distancing – not the usual commission brief either Friday, Apr 24 2020

Her parents did a virtual brief, Marilyn with the gems and ring samples, Barbara 3 meters away and Damien on the other end of the phone, reviewing images and talking on the fly . . .

Oxidised 925 silver with reticulated surface, punch set round brilliant cut hydro-thermal emerald.

Anytime is a good time for an ‘upgrade’ . . . marking significant life events makes sense Friday, Apr 24 2020

Janet Gibson is one of our long-time ‘serial offenders’. Her request was to check over both her Lariat and Signature Bracelet and add some . . . oomph elements to both.

Yesterday’s studio visitor’s real reason for calling in to the studio – to collect her recent commission Friday, Apr 24 2020

When tough comes to town the tougher get busy . . . Thursday, Apr 16 2020

Three shots of the one commissioned bangle © Bh – Jeweller to the Lost – Brisbane Australia.

In fact its her second one and Barbara has been adding elements and gems (rubies & pink tourmalines) as requested, this one is the “red” solid 18ct yellow gold one. The first one, started years ago is the “green” one.

Our Hong Kong dealers call these bead shapes ‘Triads’ so we call them triad style as well Friday, Apr 3 2020

Barbara has been making this earring style for 15 years or so, this newer version is slightly longer as are the hooks. The three sided matt beads have never changed. Women wear them for business day wear and clients have them in different gold colour ways . . .
