The studio has been quietly using up our pearl stock for the past 12 years and we just surfaced to look to replenish material – we are shocked at availability and prices asked, locally and internationally. We usually buy at the annual Tucson Gem Fair and from the Hong Kong suppliers we know and trust. We have reviewed the situation, world-wide and made contact with all the trusted wholesalers here.

We have scooped mainly South Sea Pearls, from Australian and Pacific origin and long prized as the most lustrous material. These days Fresh Water Pearls are so in demand for the burgeoning Chinese Market that much of that supply is remaining in China. Suppliers here are not replenishing their stocks because of the higher prices asked at the source. Like the carat diamond market roller-coaster created by the newly emerging Chinese market six to eight years ago – its happening with pearls now, as well . . . we have quite a few clients interested in meeting our best local contact for a session in the studio. The first 10 contacts who respond to this will be advised the time and place, hopefully a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening around the mid to end of October 2015.

Our guest supplier (who owned his own pearl farm in Tahiti) will give an over-view of the industry, quality insights and make his collection available for our client’s to purchase direct. Clients can then communicate with Barbara to design and quote their options at a later date.
