The job bag was opened early in April 2010, the commission evolved from Amanda and Robert’s selection of a prized gem from our collection – a star-cut and carved Golden Beryl at 6.09ct. Barbara created the design, the setting and the final solution incorporating the client’s brilliant suggestions and in response to her concerns to keep the ring robust but not bulky . . . we are talking about a design solution for a pair of sensitive, savvy architects. So a silver model was created to scale, testing the fused rods and the platinum basket setting before the final decision to proceed was made.

The band is formed from x8 tapered rods which rise to support, surround and protect the gem. I couldn’t get exactly square over the top of the ring with the scanner in shot two and in shot four the light was too strong . . . otherwise I’m so happy to follow after the designers and makers in the graphic and web support role, a great outcome for the Jeweller to the Lost team!
wow amazing and look at the shape of that stone.. L
Barbara, Malcolm and Juan-Luis,

Barbara, Malcolm,
Hi hope you are both well and having fun. Still dazzled by the craftsman ship in the ring it surprises me every time I look at it.
Anyway I came across this while researching lasers for model making for BVN.
I know it’s probably not up your street and uses the computer to fabricate but in case you are interested (for quickly testing ideas) or it is of any use I thought I’d send it.
