barbara heath and Blogroll and jeweller to the lost - commisions
My first commission of shakudo, as a metal arising from Japanese armour – This piece was to symbolise the image of the Hiroshima ‘dome’ linked through war and destruction, to peace and transformation. A completion cycle so to speak. The outer ring of 18 ct was an original ring remodelled by Barbara when she and I both were living at Paddington, from my Japanese grandmother’s ring. This ring no longer fitted me, but I wanted to have it remain as a used piece of jewellery in my collection – thus we re-worked it as part of the shakudo personalised talisman, thus completing the ring’s own transformation cycle. .
