Cultural Icon and general ‘bad lad’ strikes again locally for issues as diverse as Land Literacy, ZENzing wisdom and general Cultural Jamming. Although his visit coincided with his Mother’s passing and the general clean-up of the estate in Murwillumbah, his studio visit had us patinating large domestic copper boiling pots, R.S.B. (rip, shit and bust) enamelling, painting up a storm, searching and documenting ‘crap’ sites for future artworks, visiting and consecrating the bare earth site of the new GOMA for his Dada-dooings & generally perking up the troops at Jeweller to the Lost studio. We find more of Lil’s (malE’s daughter) friends rewarding themselves with real gems and jewels, early off in their careers and what a delight to see young sophisticates choosing Barbara’s contemporary designs. Emma in Sydney and Sophie in London and since these young ladies have started the ball rolling we are greatful to have made engagement and wedding jewellery for many more bright young things in the years to come.
